APPLY EARLY as CLASS SIZES MAY BE LIMITED.
All persons who desire to obtain a new Notary Public Commission in the State of Ohio must take a three (3) hour course by an Ohio Secretary of State approved education provider. New applicants must be at least 18 years of age and an Ohio resident. *
In Clermont County the three (3) hour course is in two parts followed by a written examination. No examination is necessary if applicant is an attorney.
When the application is returned, you will be contacted to schedule the time and dates for your education course, review and test. The first part of the course will be an in-person electronic presentation (1.5 hour). The second part will be an in-person live seminar (1.5 hour) that will provide a summary/review with time for questions. There are thirty questions on the exam, taken from the study manual, the electronic presentation and the seminar. You ARE NOT permitted to refer to the manual or any other reference material during the exam. You must have 80% correct to pass. Bring your own pen or pencil.
A certification of completion will be issued (for both the course and the test) that you will then submit to the Ohio Secretary of State in order to receive your commission.
